introductory anecdote: when I was a student in elementary school, a teacher taught us that an octagon not only is the name for the shape with 8 sides, but in fact the term oct means 8 like octopus octagon. i blurted out as my mind raced "also october" and said: "october ... is the tenth month... so you are mistaken."
the teacher reassured us that even the book said so. "sometimes books are wrong (consider) october is not the eighth month." she said "december is the tenth month like decimal, therefore oct must be two before." no, i was stubborn dec is 12 and the eighth month IS august.
assuming the year ends in december that would mean ten month year each month with 36 days? or count backwards 8!
MAYBE in the past the year began in march. pre-church maybe march was month one and the 8 month was called october for 8 m,a,m,j,j,a,s,o=8
and december ten and february 12.
christians made a shift to make month one different from march. starting from the beginning of the month after jesus's birth and that is why we number january with the number 1 because of jesus. well what if jesis DIED that would indicate he is not god immortal, and things should not be bent for him.
the original calendar as indicated by october and december and as historians found and published in an encyclopedia that i read a few weeks ago:
indeed as I guessed, despite janus being the god of beginnings, still march was 1 and indeed that is why october was called october whereas february was month 12 matching the leap-year day decision:
to add the leap year as the most appropriate date as: the last day of the year is the fix day called 29 feb. before the new year in march now we comprehend how religion shifted and made a mess because keeping the names and changing the starting point to jesus birth makes the first month january and ruined sept=7 october november and december all ruined by religion
luckily we use numbers for months yet kids must learn the names to identify them and october was ruined by religion.
anyway to preserve march is the first month before the christians ruined october+compelled us to submit to them in contracts and culture, I wrote a rhyme about march and the year
in next post...
