the colors of mice and rats overlap both can be grey and brown... however usualy white is only the smaller mouse and black is the larger rat. in fact the DIFFERENCE between certain mice and "mouse" is greater than the difference between rats and mouse and so although both rats and mice are grouped in the same family and even subfamily yet some mice are grouped separately. if pouch in cheek or other significant difference.
