festivals in india are NEAR

Despite less importance than diwali in india's culture yet still recognized:

the festival of hindu is near. before the  india-independence day on date 15, this OFFICIALLY  recognized festival, called janmashtami is in gazette category of vacation, meaning government closes. it is this month on the 8 day of the hindu lunar calendar, which this year has the added "leap month" which will be added at the end of this summer.

j. in the above context of the recognized festival, lasts until dawn of date 13 on the common business calendar. defining dawn to dawn festival and some fast from grain see below but must drink water see below.

the symbol is the birth of krishna meaning the hindu god named vishnu was born as a body on this date the 8 of the sixth month named bhadra. he died, before but around, year 3000 bc and 3000 years later the same idea was told about jesus... god was born as a body.- i study but dont fast hindu fasts.

see below about fasting custom and another near festival.

next week the recognized new year is celebrted. although the new year is defined by "spring equinox" this ancient festival is based on a calendar that did not add days in february to synchronize the sun so the date now falls far from spring. dont worry... in 800 years it will sync with spring.

the fast is not eating grain from day before, either from dawn or skip supper, as above until the 9 of the month meaning dawn of date called 13 august [on biznis calendar] as above.

they must drink enuf water or milk [from any holy cow], or coconut water. they may eat fruit if feel hunger and if the hunger is strong may eat potatoes cooked traditional style for example "aloo jeera" but no grain nor rice nor lentil until dawn of 9 of lunar which is called 13 august.

the added month causes a delay for "diwali" festival so it is nearer the natural event called winter solstice in contrast to other years.
