review of j. verne 20,000 leagues

 book review. i heard that j. verne was an "amazing" author. sadly i did not see the quality until late chapters after many poor quality chapters.

althoe the first chapter used a clever technique... it was too vague to enjoy. many boring and bad quality chapters before the detailed description of under sea beauty. he wisely started with mystery and excitement. but wrote 7 pages poorly and ignored the possibility that different distant places could indicate many long objects or a new discovery of a longer species of wwhales.

so i replace the first chapter with less vague details.

also the title "under" is vague it seems the depth was thousands  of leagues and what is a league anyway?

i suggest a clearer title "the beautiful and long submarine journey" specifying that the journey  was long and the story will describe the beauty. also the chapter name is stupid since he specifically wrote moving! and places separated by continents  cannot be reef singular. instead better to begin with "the mystery".

chapter one: the mystery

in 1866, people were excited and debated the reports from sailors who claimed they saw an odd whale that was longer than the largest  known whale. when reports included mysterious damage to ships, governments were very interested.

if the reports were about the same one in many distant places, then it was faster than any known whale. could many exist? was this a newly discovered species?

the reports corroborated each other that it was at least 200 feet long. they described its rapid movement, faster than  any known whale but its shape was odd like a cigar and unlike a whale it lacked a tail. insted both ends seemed to taper.

Many sailors on many ships from various companies reported seeing this long mysterious thing moving rapidly. one reported seeing it moving "east from the east coast of Australia." too soon after that another report "700 leagues" that is 2,800 kilometers away in the Pacific Ocean. could it be the same one thing? "15 days later" sailors reported seeing  this thing or things moving in the "Atlantic ocean east from the east coast of canada". It had inexplicably went far and around the continent... had it gone south or north? ships in various places reported seeing it. science directs to accept observations yet such a long thing was unprecedented. some doubted the sailors as the "legends from sailors" of other imaginary beings. Were they reliable witnesses?

newspapers and even science journals debated this discovery. however, more important than a new species, was the new danger. Ships reported collisions in places where no reefs existed.  one ship got damaged and water poured in. when it came to port the inspector saw a symmetrical triangular shape cut in thick iron. it seemed unnatural! when a ship crashes against a reef the damage is different. this mysterious harm inflamed excitement and interest.

now that people knew of the new danger, this seemed like the BEST explanation for other mysterious losses, because the best explanation is the one related to "things already known." People demanded that governments must stop this harmful danger.

The u.s. government invited a scientist named Pierre Aronnax to join an expidition to hunt this harmful damager.

chapter 2 the dangerous mission 

i, pierre Aronax, heard about the debate. at first i refused to accept this new discovery. However, when a ship got damaged the evidence swayed me that an animal with a horn like a narwhal must have caused the damage. i wrote an article about it and joined the mission aboard the "Abraham Lincoln" to hunt it. Althoe the most recent report of damage was in the Atlantic ocean, we were sent to hunt it in the pacific. [was verne  really a good author??]

Each government denied that it built any under-sea ship that collided with any ship. My explanation of a natural cetacean seemed best. our ship sailed from new york city in 1867. crowds cheered. we steamed south passing the tropic of cancer at around 23 degrees north latitude. we continued south-east around the amazon continent, so we crossed the imaginary equator midway between the poles of spin. our ship turned south-west and passed the tropic of capricorn off the east coast of land.

soon we steamed between the mainland and the isles south of it. even the narrow land sufficed to block our way to our destination so we were compelled to go around the south horn of the continent. At which point did the atlantic ocean end and the Pacific ocean border was entered? if we can estimate the area of each then there must be some imaginary line to separate this continuous sea. somewhere we entered the part of sea named Pacific Ocean.

we steaned north-west and again uneventfully crossed the tropic of capricorn then the equator and even the tropic of cancer. by now our excitement had faded. 

each day we had searched for the long thing spotted in the Pacific straining to see as far as we could. people watched from both sides to earn the reward for spotting the long whale and killing it before it could collide as we already had experienced.

our ship wandered around the sea until we lost hope of seeing any long narwhal... only after we lost hope... one sailor reported the light at night. the best explanation was a natural phosphorescence based on known glow worms. the Abraham Lincoln fired at it... suddenly it moved toward our ship accelerating as i, and my assistant consiel, watched the light move nearer and nearer... we gripd the rail and braced for the impact of collision. 

CRASH it slamd into the side of our ship. consiel and i were knocked upward and i could not hold the rail.

i fell and splashd into the sea near Japan. i started swimming toward the lyt, almost certain our ship was sinking. i was shocked with surprise and  horror to find that the collision was with a metallic vehicle! consiel and one other man named ned succeeded at swimming to the lyt before it this iron vehicle moved away from the site of the collision. 

NOTE: now we can continue with the adventure! on page 46 replacement for many uneventfull pages and flawed paragraphs and quickly reach the adventure starting with the mention of the unexpected "sheet iron". 

Biden did not fire a nuke atom bomb

 DISCLAIMER: all characters and events in this post even those based on real people are entirely fictional. biden has not nuked any city... yet.

story: on the date January 20, 2021, joe biden swore to uphold the constitution as president 46 of u.s.a. 

the Chinese prime minister knew that biden was a weak pushover. biden even had business connections in China which were under china government influence. that same day he ordered the first wave of atomic bomb s. now that trump  was away he knew  Biden  would not retaliate using nuclear bomb s called h-bomb or a-bomb meaning atom bomb s.

obviously he chose the u.s. capital city first but that might have protection. so he met with the war minister to plan. the war minister did not agree but he felt compelled to obey. together they assembled the list of ten targets. war insisted  3 for capital in case they had defenses. pm said i want new york too. war explained that city was very big aand would need a giant yield bomb. "what would i do without you!" pm praised.

the h-bomb for hydrogen was stronger. so that was selected. other cities would use small yeild plutonium a-bombs.

 war felt encouraged and suggested, for his own reason the 5 cities with most murder. first chicago and then.... but pm interrupted "my turn, los angeles.--now i 3, kuz you chose washington, ny and la, so i chose Chicago, Philadelphia,  Baltimore." pm nodded and added san Francisco for its naval value. war added Houston for it and the others he chose had the highest murder. these war the mist evil cities in his opinion. the fact the people there chose mayor dnc from Democratic-political party, who did not work to deter murder motivated him to choose these. pm asked if they had enuf for that many city? 3 for capital and then ny, la, sf, Chicago Philadelphia Baltimore and Houston exactly ten. perfect. 

war sent the order and the soldiers on the submarine chose the missiles with the coordinates for the city the comrades selected. war wanted to destroy  the evil city in america. 

the missile fired and then more. they arched up from the sea and flew quickly toward the cities. satellite saw  the missiles rising from the sea. norad got the warning and informed biden. biden told them mass murder was wrong morally. we must not bomb a whole city that would be "sinking" to the bad low level... as he had read in the book by clancy. 

the chinese were correct they were able to shoot without retaliation. the missiles flew in. Biden and Harris flew out from the danger zone and the Pentagon ordered  f16 b with two crew to intercept the missiles. 

before the warplanes coud jet up, san Francisco and Los Angeles were incinerated in a heat that shattered every molecule of human animal and structure for many miles. 

i was on my missile destroyer. a small warship but it had 4 atom bomb s. i also commanded my small team of two eacort submarines off the coast of la. since MY orders were to patrol la i decided i  had authority for that war. oops. 

as the missiles arched down toward the east  coast, i awaited  orders to fire for my destroyed city. the jet that shot at the Chicago missile was a sidewinder that chased heat with a sensor for infra red so exploded  in the blaze of the missile too far from the missile. the same flaw over Houston. 

the pentagon decided that they would not inform the other city and orderd sidewinders. the jets tried... at least we did something... Philadelphia and nyc changed to boiling lava instead of buildings and people. 

i was boiling too. watching many city burn. alreadt la sf Chicago Houston were burnt. maybe more. i orderd without consulting... my team of sunmarines to shoot their high yeilds at different cities in China. i ordered to select the ten industrial port cities with most people to avenge  my coastal port city and all the rest based on jet factory cities.  

the executive officer of my sub interpreted the order in 2 parts. he chose some of the ten major ports and non ports that had more population than the ports. all 22 from each of my 2 subs arched up to the 44 most populated cities. my own 4 went 2 to the capital of china and one to the capitals of each india and pakistan kuz i hated those countries. 

shanghai on the coast and all the heads of the Chinese  national government were shattered to protons kuz they had not bothered to enter the bomb shelter. correctly understood Biden who felt immoral  to use nuclear  weapons.

the 40 largest cities in china hold barely 20% of population so almost 900 million remained. with beijing flattened like a shallow plate and no communist leaders the remaining 900 decided to arrange options for a multi-party election for the first time since communism started. a communist party was allowed in case people  wanted that but also others. for the first time since communism started in china people had options besides communist. most chose the descendant of an emperor  so he won based on 63% of votes. only 2% wanted communism and the other votes were scattered to small paties. any with less than ten percent were declared illegal including communism. i had rescued china from communism.

meanwhile all 7 cities, including the 5 murder city, Chicago, new York city,  Philadelphia, Baltimore and Houston were incinerated by atom bombs. only the jet over Washington was warned not to use sidewinders. the f16 zipd up to intercept and fired radar fuided missiles at the 3 approaching missiles. sadly even radar guidance failed due to the high speed, and only one was destroyed. two detonated over Washington and although they were over the residential areas the blazes extended and melted the statue of lincoln and blasted the obelisk monument into the white house wall. which was beyond the range of the 30 kiloton bombs.

biden and harris returned to the white house and announced  we are morally holy we will not use atom bombs on cities.

needless to say based on that policy i did not "restock" since we would not shoot anyway.

the few pictures of missiles llaunched from the coast of la were "fake news" the only real news was that 63% of chinese wanted the anti-abortion group. to prevent abortion anybody requesting an abortion would be imprisoned until birth to save the fetus and the parents punished for  request. also after first birth every woman was operated to remove ovaries and egg cells to prevent abortion. 

both sides of Washington were burnt and the monument obelisk crashed thru a wall in the white house. so biden moved to a temporary bunker until it was rebuilt. when people criticized him for not retaliating biden explained "at least i am not a mass murderer". 

when the AUTHOR  of this story completed it, he decided and actually threw the only manuscript of this story into a fire. and he never wrote another copy until his death, nor told this story verbally to anybody... including myself!

i was reading a book by the famous author Clancy,. in one story the "president" went to visit a nazi death center and "thought" about the horror of mass murder killing women... strike one, and then comparing his authority as president to use an atomic bomb... strike two and then deciding "never again" on both... strike three! you are out.

the story of nazi was gathering a "certain ethnicity" and killing=murder, many=mass murder of that ethnicity separated for destruction... even the "unarmed" men... yes even men is murder if unarmed! ergo many by train load and filling gas chambers is mass murder. clancy and his character did not notice the jew-men were peaceful not any physical threat with weapons but instead unarmed. [well a threat to their male infants but still different from war].
in contrast battle is in war both sides have weapons but murder is when the victim is unarmed as above. far worse, that murder was an ethnic murder separating and isolating a certain ethnicity in contrast to a city bmb that equally kills every enemy without separating any ethnicity... the big bomb is not separating but nazi targeted a certain ethnicity to mass murder that ethnicity with worse treatment while a bomb in war is equality not "worse treatment" to one ethnicity but every ethnicity in the city equal.
the point is not women! even men is murder when unarmed. an atom bmb is like a bomb and is horrible if used during peace! but in the case of japan or nuclear detterrent.... that is during war when bombs are needed due to the war.
if an american president would annnounce "i like this clancy idea... if pakistan or whoever burns our city with a hydrogen bomb... i will not "stoop" to the low level copy the cruelty to use such a mass murder weapon.... even dring war... then WHAT would STOP china or pakistan or russia from dropping theirs on american cities... while knowing no retaliation! what an idiot clancey was! his best seller was bought by americans who want america to lose so they can be under something far worse than any stain in american history.
