continuity:
she began again, "how many hours a day did you do lessons?” hurrying to change the sad subject. they answered, “4 hours monday, tuesday 3, and so on.” she exclaimed, “such an ODD surprising schedule!” Gryphon criticized, “don't you know? That’s the reason they’re called lessons, because they lessen day by day." This was a new idea for Alice who added, “Then friday must have been vacation.” the Mock Turtle sighed, "obviously, it was.” Gryphon eagerly urged. “if lessons were 5, 3, 1, vacation, THAT would truly be odd, but enough about lessons, now, we will tell you about fun.”
CHAPTER 10; The Lobster Quadrille; The Mock Turtle brushed the back of a flapper over its eyes. sobs choked its voice. Gryphon hit its back explaining, “Same as if he had a bone in his throat.” it said, while tears were running down its cheeks, "we were under the sea. do you know lobster?” Alice answered, “I once..." starting to say she had tasted once, but stopped and concluded, "saw one.“ it continued, "a Lobster Quadrille is delightful!" Alice asked, "what is it?” Gryphon explained, "it is a dance. first the dancers stand along the sea shore in a line..." it interrupted, “TWO rows. salmon, Seals, turtles, and others. clear all the jelly-fish from the beach, advance two steps...” it interrupted, “Each with a lobster as a partner. switch lobsters, and go back. next throw the lobsters up!" now it jumped on air. m.t. explained, “and far over sea...” it interrupted, “Swim to them...” it interrupted while jumping, "swim a somersault in the sea” Gryphon interrupted, “Change lobsters again...”  it interrupted, go back to land again." both things stopped jumping and sat down quietly.
She said, “It must be a very pretty dance."
“do you want to see?” asked the Mock Turtle. Alice answered, “Very much.” c.t. invited g', "We can do without lobsters. Which will sing?” it replied, “you sing. I forgot the words.” So they began dancing round and round Alice. Mock Turtle sang very slowly and sadly rhyming:
“Will you go a little faster?” said a whiting to a snail.
There’s a porpoise close behind us, and he’s treading on my tail.
See how eagerly the lobsters and the turtles all advance
They are waiting on the sea shore. will you come and join the dance?
Will you, won’t you, will you, won’t you, will you join the dance?
Will you, won’t you, will you, won’t you, won’t you join the dance?
+"too far the way will be
until we reach the sea"
Would not, could not, would not, could not, would not join the dance.
Would not, could not, would not, could not, could not join the dance.
al said, “Thank you for dancing. i enjoyed watching.” she felt very glad that the slow song ended. “I liked that song about the whiting.” m.t. asked, “Oh the whiting, you saw one?” alice answered, “Yes, at dinn...” but she stopped herself from revealing she ate animals, recalling the mouse. it replied, “I don’t know where Dinn is.” a. described them, “their tails were in their mouths and they were covered in crumbs.” it argued, “You’re wrong about the crumbs, which would wash off in the sea."  Gryphon explained,  "the reason their tails were in their mouths..." m.t. yawned and shut his eyes, when the Gryphon concluded, “is because they got thrown out to sea, with the lobsters. during the long fall, their tails fastened in their mouths. they can’t get them out again.”
“Thank you,” said Alice, “that's very interesting, about a whiting.” Gryphon asked, “Do you know why it’s called a whiting?” she replied, “I never thought about it. Why?” it continued, “It dyes shoes.” Alice failed to understand and wondered loudly, "my shoes needed blacking," Gryphon “under the sea used  whiting.” a' “what are shoes there made of?” Gryphon “Soles and eels.” a' laughed at the double meaning and commented, “If I were the whiting in the song, I’d say to the porpoise, ‘i don’t want you with us.’” mt' “They must have one, no wise fish would go anywhere without a porpoise.”
“Wouldn’t it really?” Alice asked in a tone of great surprise. the Mock Turtle explained, “if a fish told me he was starting a journey, I would say ‘With what porpoise?’” alice asked “Don’t you mean ‘purpose’?” m't' replied, “I mean what I say.” Gryphon requested “tell some of your adventures.” she said, “I could tell you from this afternoon, but not yesterday, because I am a different person now.” mt' replied, “Explain that.” Gryphon argued, its tone impatient, “No, no, no! The adventures first, explanations take too much time.”
Alice began telling them that she saw the White Rabbit. the pair moved very close to her, one on each side, and opened their eyes and mouths wide. Her listeners were quiet as she continued about changing size, until she told the part about her repeating poems to the Caterpillar. "the words differed, i could not remember my memory". the Mock Turtle drew a long breath, and said “That’s very odd.”
“It’s about as odd as it can be!” exclaimed the Gryphon. m.t. repeated, "different. I want to hear you try and repeat something now." it turned and faced g' and requested, "Tell her to begin.” indicating it thought that it had authority. g' obeyed, instructing “Stand up and repeat a poem". she felt annoyed that many beings here ordered her to repeat lessons same as at school. However, she began to repeat one, but her mind still saw the Lobster dance, so she said, “’Tis the voice of the Lobster" g' “That’s different from what I remember when I was a child.” m.t. “I never heard that poem before. it sounds nonsense.” Alice sat down with her face in her hands, silently. m.t. “I want you to explain it.” g' “She can’t explain it." then to her, "continue the next verse.” m.t. asked about the toes in the poem, its curiosity overruling gryphon's authority, “How could he 'turn out his toes, using his nose? please explain it as you quote. it is the most confusing poem I ever heard, by far.” g' suggested she stop. Alice felt glad to obey this time. it continued, “we can dance another part of the Lobster Quadrille or the Mock Turtle can sing.” she eagerly replied, “Oh, a song, please, if the Mock Turtle is willing." Gryphon said, "Will you sing ‘Turtle Soup’ for her." it sang the soup song sometimes sobbing.
after a few phrases, alice heard a distant shout, “The trial’s beginning!” Gryphon ordered her, “Come.” it took Alice by the hand. they hurried. alice asked, “What is this trial?” while panting from running. it only replied, “Come.” it pulled her so she ran faster. she heard from behind, but more and more faintly its singing, "Soo—oop of the ee—evening, for a group,
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful Soup.”
CHAPTER 11: Who Stole the Tarts? The King and Queen of Hearts were sitting on their throne. alice +"and Gryphon" arrived. she saw a big crowd... many sorts of little beasts and birds. all of the cards, including other royals. alice felt relieved they had not been killed by the cruel queen of hearts who seemed heartless. she saw the accused Knave with a j and a heart on his shoulder. he was standing in chains. a diamond soldier with a diamond shaped spear tip stood on each side to guard him from escping. the White Rabbit was standing and holding a trumpet...
