history 1967: worthy to celebrate the 1967 "cease fire" ending "the short 6 day war" at 18:30, June 10, 1967.
not exactly celebrating victory kuz that israeli air victory was an earlier day, yet not end war, but celebrating the cease-fire, between israel and muslim neighbors. see background below. egypt lost 700 battle tanks including [then] modern soviet t55 tanks. 100 tanks captured intact plus 600 destroyed. egypt would later re-arm and try war again in 1973. in 1967, immediately after the cease fire, international airlines in europe resumed passenger fligths to israel for example italy and swiss. also israel relocated families into empty buildings in silwan for clearing a plaza for prayer at the wailing wall.
the 6 day war: in 1967, due to egyptian tanks massing near border, israel bombed egypt warplanes on ground in 18 airfields. israel successfully destroyd nearly 90% of egyptian mig warplanes. israel invaded sinai peninsula successfully chasing the tanks AWAY from the border...but egypt president/king refused to surrender as the egyptian soldiers fled westward. israelis found thousands of boots and rifles and bags discarded to run fast. intact tanks were found indicating the egyptian tank crews had climbed out from the tank to avoid becoming a target in a battle-tank.
despite the loss of warplanes and "air superiority" [see below] fighting continued there. also jordan started shelling israel that day. despite israel crushing warplanes of egypt jordan and syria, the arabs did not surrender yet, so fighting continued the following day. objectively, a strategist would have responded to the loss of warplanes and "air superiority" with IMMEDIATE cease fire and surrender and de-militarized zone but... hate was stronger and the arab leaders refused to surrender.... as israel advanced into egypt westward and also eastward taking land from jordan... that jordan "occupied" outside its historical border which was established in jordan independence in 1920's. arabs refused to surrender so fighting continued as israel took more land called west bank until reaching the "original" jordan border. battles continued until june 10 cease fire.
despite the loss of many syrian warplanes and of syrian "air superiority", which would expect a submission, syria refused to "stop firing" but on date 8 continued shelling the israeli villages from bases in golan heights. in response on date 9 israel military attacked those shooters and took those mountains in two days of battle. by the cease fire of 18:30 on date 10 June israel had chased syrians from the east side of the "kineret" lake [sea of galilee]. egypt lost two submarines by israel's west coast [haifa region].
