japan had a major navy
after analyzing japans warplane carriers now i group the armored battleships.
first by year sunk:
in year 1941 u.s. was nutral so did not sink any japanese battleships
1942 u.s. sank hiei a minor b' and kiri' minor. ten remained.
1943 mut' medium armor 12" mystery sinking
1944 japan had 2 major +5 medium besides minor.
1944 u.s. sank one major mus' and fuso medium. kongo minor, [mus' major,] yam'r medium
despite losing 2+1+4=7 most, still, "plenty" remained one major yamato, also medium 3 remained hyuga, ise, nag' besides minor. due to limited fuel they all returned to home isles and used guns for defense.
at this point limited fuel COULDA and SHOULDA made a cease fire so both stop shooting. let u.s. cut 'em empty. but had 4 and did not want to lose area in east asia so emperor continued selfishly causing loss of his own people.
war continued in burma east from india and china and in isles and the last battleships survived half a year.
in july 1945 u.s. sank some of the remaining battleships:
yamt ap' '45 last major b' sank at sea.
har' sunk jul' '45 later cut
hyu sunk jul' '45 later cut
ise sunk jul' '45 later cut
only nag remained by august 1945. when generals surrenderd u.s. "captured" last medium battleship to prevent shooting. u.s. used nag' for testing. the others were cut. in 1946, separate from war, nag' capsized top down.
